OUR TEACHERS
SUSAN
MAHENSKI
GENTLE
My teaching draws on many Yoga styles from Hatha to Vinyasa, Yin and Restorative.
My classes offer creative sequences with intentional themes, emphasizing the
importance of proper alignment, pranayama breathing techniques, mindfulness, and
meditation. However, my true passion is introducing my students to the benefits of Yoga
Nidra, a yogic sleep-based meditation. Whether I’m leading a Slow flow, Yin or a gentle
Chair Yoga practice, I aim to meet my students where they are, each day. I honor their
diversity by taking a whole-body approach, teaching awareness of fluctuations in the
body, breath and mind. When a student learns to listen to their body, they become
better able meet to their specific needs in any given moment. Overall, my goal is to
equip each student with tools that allow them to take their Yoga off the mat and into the
world.
With a BS in Business Management and a lifelong interest in the fitness industry, I have
also completed my 500-hour yoga teacher training with an advanced specialization in
Yoga Nidra. Additionally, I maintain a national certification as a personal trainer. I have
been teaching a variety of fitness classes/workshops in the Surprise area since 2009
with experience in many types of formats and group settings; large, small, corporate,
and private.
